Building
Knowledge &
Acceptance

Building Knowledge & Acceptance (BKA), works to influence change and to shape a robust, accessible support and transition system for women in Sweden. Helping to enhance their self-esteem and confidence, as well as, their sense of belonging to their local community. Newcomer, repatriate, expatriate, and immigrant women in general, may face special challenges such as language barriers, poor understanding of societal norms, and possible discrimination and social exclusion. Thus, those who are able to socially, civically and economically engage and integrate, feel a stronger sense of belonging and empowerment. We strive to provide them with the tools and resources they need to fully and equally participate in all aspects of Swedish life.

BKA functions as a network  to share  lived experiences and voice needs, concerns, and expectations. A safe space to belong, while juggling their difference and sameness.

We partner with you to drive change

BKA works toward incorporating both a sense of belonging and a sense of value in uniqueness – two dimensions related to sameness and difference, which may seem difficult to reconcile, but are important to successful socialization. Women are accepted as they are, and the experiences they bring are seen as resources with potential value.
